Two sides looking to book their spot in the fourth round of the EFL Cup, Everton will welcome fellow Premier League outfit Southampton to Goodison Park on Tuesday.

Starting with the hosts, although Everton wouldn’t have picked up the number of points they would have hoped for, it has been a stable start to the new Premier League season. After seven games, the Blues have won two, drawn three and lost two, scoring 11 and conceding 11 in return. Picking up a 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, Everton have lost just one of their last five matches at Goodison Park. They have also scored eight in their last four home matches and we’re booking them to come away with their spot in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.

As for the visitors, despite showing some signs of life at the end of last month, it has been another tricky start for Southampton. In their opening seven games, the Saints have managed to pick up just one win, drawing two and losing four, scoring six and conceding 11, they hold the third worst attacking stats in the Premier League. After only avoiding the drop on the last game of last season, they now sit three points above the drop zone and have also lost their last two on the bounce, failing to score in either defeat.
