Despite losing their first two Group games, England still have a slim chance of qualifying into the next round. In Group D, the Three Lions are bottom after consecutive 2-1 defeats to Italy and Uruguay. Costa Rica and Italy are both level with three points, which means England still have an opportunity to go through if results go their way.

One of them is Italy winning their game against Costa Rica tonight and then beating Uruguay in their last Group D match in four days time, providing that England do their job and beat Costa Rica in their last game also on the 24th of June.

William Hill are giving odds of 4/1 for England to qualify from Group D, as it’s very likely Italy can do them a favour and win their remaining games against Costa Rica and Uruguay. England will be favourites to beat the South American outfit in their last group game in a few days, but will be low on confidence following back-to-back defeats.
