England are in pole position to book their place in the Euro 2016 last-16 if they avoid defeat in their final Group B game against Slovakia on Monday night, but the Three Lions also stand a chance of winning their group to force an easier draw if they can better Wales’ result against Russia.

Roy Hodgson’s side are currently top of Group B with four points from two games, having scored three and conceded two. England drew their tournament opener to Russia, before a last-gasp winner against Wales earned them all three points at the death.

England are one point clear of the chasing pack, and will go through as group winners if they beat Slovakia on Monday. Wales and Slovakia are second and third in the group respectively with three points, so they can both still pip the Three Lions at the death if Wales win against Russia and Slovakia beat Hodgson’s men.

However, performance-levels of England see the camp full of confidence of progress top of the group, and William Hill are giving odds of 3/10 for the table-toppers to make the last-16 of Euro 2016 as group winners. A draw might be enough for England if Wales fall short, but they will go out to win on Monday night.
