As the domestic leagues come to another abrupt end, players and managers will now be turning their attention to this summers World Cup finals in Russia. Looking to carry on their own fine run of form, Gareth Southgate’s side will welcome 2006 World Cup winners Italy to Wembley.

As for the visitors, Italy are a country in transition and now without a manager, the 2006 World Cup winners were unable to even make it to the tournament this year. Finishing second in Group G behind Spain, in their 10 group matches Italy picked up seven wins, two draws and one defeat. After falling short against Sweden in the playoffs Italy this will be the first time since 1958 that the four-time champions have not qualified for the final tournament. As for their recent results, Italy are most recently coming off the back of a 2-0 defeat away to Argentina and have just one win in their last five outings.
