Two sides who are desperate to secure their spot at next year’s European Championships, Denmark will host the Republic of Ireland on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Denmark would have been disappointed to have only picked up a point in their opening qualifying matchup, they will have their sights set on securing a spot at EURO 2020. Enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run across all competitions, the Reds also secured promotion to League A after winning their inaugural UEFA Nations League campaign. Marching through all four matches without tasting defeat, Friday’s hosts also finished six points ahead of the Republic of Ireland. It is also worth noting that Denmark are unbeaten in their last six matches on home soil, recording a clean sheet in each of those outings.

As for the visitors, while a winning start to their qualifying campaign may see Ireland topping Group D, there still remains some issues over their form in the final third. Picking up a pair of 1-0 victories over Gibraltar and Georgia to see them sit two clear points ahead of Switzerland, Friday’s visitors are unbeaten in their last four matches across all competitions. However, Ireland have scored just two goals on that four-match unbeaten run they have also now scored just two goals in their last six appearances. It is also worth noting that Ireland have won just one of their last seven matches on the road.
