Defending SPL champions Celtic 4/9 to see past Dundee United in weekend clash

Posted August 16th, 2014 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Scottish Premier League
Market: Celtic to win against Dundee United
Odds: 4/9 @ William Hill

Celtic have a chance to go top of the table today in the early kickoff against Dundee United. The Bhoys won their league opener against St Johnstone a few days ago, and now they have a chance to overtake United, who are currently top of the pack.

United won their two opening league games to Aberdeen and Motherwell, without conceding a goal. Unfortunately, their past record against the SPL holders isn’t impressive, with Celtic having beaten them three times last season.

As a result, William Hill are giving odds of 4/9 for Celtic to get three points against Dundee United this afternoon, which will also put them top of the table too. New manager Ronny Deila is expected to win the league title in 2014/15, so he has pressure to deliver despite being new to the division.

Celtic’s squad is considerably strong that that of the rest of the league, and their past record against Dundee United is leading many to believe they will see past their weekend opponents somewhat comfortably.
