He scored on his World Cup debut for England against Italy last night, and despite losing the game, Three Lions striker Daniel Sturridge will be on cloud nine. His reaction following the goal showed the relief to get off the mark in the prestigious tournament, as now he’s achieved a career objective.

But he will want to finish the highest scorer for England by the end of the World Cup, and is being given odds of 20/21 by Betfair to achieve it.

Scoring 21 Premier League goals last season, the 24-year-old has come into the World Cup in fine form, and for England he’s continued his brilliant scoring run too, bagging three goals in his last four international games.

England face Uruguay next, knowing only a win will do to keep their chances of qualifying for the next round alive, which will mean Sturridge can ill afford to miss any chance that comes his way. He contributed to 28% of Liverpool’s league goals in 2013/14, and will want the same influence in the England team this summer.
