Croatia lock horns with Turkey in their opening Euro 2016 Group D clash at the Parc des Princes in Paris on Sunday afternoon, and are favourites to come out on top given their superior squad. However, both sides are in fine form of late which could make for an even affair.

Croatia have enjoyed wins against the likes of Malta, Russia, Israel, Moldova and San Marino ahead of this summer’s European Championships, scoring 17 goals in their last six games in all competitions.

They boast an outstanding midfield of Luka Modric (Real Madrid) and Ivan Rakitic (Barcelona), among others, but Turkey are no slouches either. Croatia’s opponents have won four of their last five games in all competitions so today’s meeting at the Parc des Princes could be fairly even for the large part.

Turkey have beaten Sweden, Austria, Montenegro and Slovenia recently, and will have a robust approach to counteract Croatia’s technical quality. However, Turkey will have to endure Croatia retain possession for long periods which could be a telling factor in deciding the winner.
