Competition: Irish First Division

Market: Cork City win

Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on what has been a recent purple patch, Cork City will make the trip to a struggling Cabinteely on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, making an immediate return to losing ways last time out, Cabinteely find themselves in the midst of what has been a worrying run of form. In their 19 First Division matchups so far this season, they have recorded seven wins against 12 defeats, scoring 18 and conceding 30 in return. Managing to muster themselves a points tally of 21, they open this weekend’s fixtures sat eighth in th standings and with just their goal difference keeping them behind Friday’s guests. As for their recent run of results, last seen getting hit with a 2-1 defeat against Wexford on the road, Cabinteely have now lost eight of their last nine matchups across all formats, a run that stems back to June 11th. More worrying, it should also be noted that the hosts have lost each of their last four First Division home fixtures on the spin, scoring just a single goal.

As for the visitors, despite a worrying run of form earlier in the season, Cork City now find themselves enjoying a very impressive purple patch. In their 19 First Division matchups so far this year, they have recorded five wins, six draws and eight defeats, scoring 25 and conceding 22 in return. Managing to also muster themselves a points tally of 21, it should be highlighted that no side in the bottom-half of the standings holds a better defensive tally. As for their recent run of results, last seen picking up a thumping 4-0 win against Cobh Ramblers on home soil, Cork City are unbeaten in each of their last six First Division matchups. A run that has seen them also muster 10 points from their last four second-tier contests, they have also collected back-to-back wins on the draw. Given the recent gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing an away victory here.
