Consistent Schalke 14/5 to finish top-two in the Bundesliga this season

After remaining a strong outfit in the German Bundesliga for the last three seasons, Schalke 04 are being backed to better 2013/14 by finishing in the top-two this campaign.

Die Königsblauen finished third last season, fourth in 2012/13, and third in 2011/12, meaning 2014/15 should be the season where they finally look to break Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich’s stronghold on the division.

The last team to get between the pair was Bayer Leverkusen in 2010/11, but Schalke certainly have a good enough side to disrupt the pair of them. They’ve retained top talent Julian Draxler, while the likes of Benedikt Howedes is a fellow World Cup winner too.

Not to mention, new arrivals such as Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Sidney Sam to play along side Klass Jan Huntelaar and co. As a result, Betfair are giving odds of 14/15 for Schalke to finish in the top-two of the league this season. It won’t be easy, but with manager Jens Keller, the man attributed to their successful last three seasons, they stand an honest chance.
