Chelsea’s John Terry 3/1 to make New York City FC his next club

Competition: Premier League
Market: John Terry to make NYCFC his next club
Odds: 3/1 @ 888 Sport

Chelsea defender John Terry looks on his way out of Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, with the club set to undergo a transition period after such a dismal Premier League campaign. Terry is out of contract in the summer and it looks though Chelsea won’t renew his deal, and the MLS could well be his next destination.

The former England international revealed he had no intention of joining another Premier League side, and his ex-Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard publicly revealed his desire to bring Terry to the MLS with New York City FC in the summer. The two are friends off the field, and it could convince the veteran defender to make the switch.

Terry is expected to be inundated with offers after his departure from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, but the MLS is looking like the best destination. The lucrative contracts offered to players would certainly make for a good retirement from the sport, but the big stadiums and less rigorous opposition would be a welcome bonus.

As a result, 888 Sport are giving odds 3/1 for John Terry to make the move to New York City FC in the summer when his Chelsea contract expires.
