Despite Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho publicly revealing his desire to keep striker Fernando Torres this summer, rumours have been linking the Spaniard elsewhere.

His former side Atletico Madrid have unsurprisingly been named as a potential destination for Torres as they’ve been in the market for attacking recruits following the exits of David Villa and Diego Costa.

As a result, Betfair are giving odds of 3/1 for the Chelsea striker to rejoin his old club. Torres’ time at Stamford Bridge hasn’t gone well in regard to his goal contribution. He’s failed to hit double figures in the league in any season since his arrival from Liverpool, so Mourinho’s desire to keep him seems odd.

Atletico won’t break the bank for his signing either. Manager Diego Simeone has signed striker Mario Mandzukic, but the supporters were heard chanting “Fernando Torres” upon his official presentation. It highlights how enamoured the fans are with the player once called “El Nino” during his Atletico days.
