Conflicting reports have been coming out of the Chelsea camp regarding striker Diego Costa. The Spanish international has been rumoured to have handed in a transfer request, while other sources say he’s keen to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Nevertheless, he’s clearly unhappy, and a move to his former side might well be the solution. The 27-year-old scored 12 goals and made six assists in the Premier League last season, and was said to have fallen out with the club during their dismal 2015/16 campaign.

Costa has been linked with a move away from London for more than a season now, but reports are conflicted over whether he genuinely wants to leave. Former side Atletico Madrid are keen to bring the striker back to the Vicente Calderon to help them in their pursuit for the Spanish La Liga title.

Costa capped his spell with Atleti winning the league title and playing in the Champions League final. Diego Simeone, of whom brought the best from the centre-forward in his first stint at the club, is still manager and may well persuade the Chelsea man to return home if he’s unhappy in England.
