Celtic 20/21 to beat St. Mirren to nil in Wednesday’s Scottish Premiership contest

Competition: Scottish Premiership

Market: Celtic win to nil

Odds: 20/21 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on their Premiership purple patch in midweek, defending champions Celtic will make the trip to a struggling St. Mirren on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, despite opening the 2020/2021 campaign with three points on home soil, St. Mirren once again find themselves in the midst of another sluggish run of form. In their opening six Premiership matchups this season, they have recorded two wins, one draw and three defeats, scoring just three and conceding eight in return. Collecting seven points and with their goal difference keeping them outside the top half of the standings, it should also be noted that St. Mirren hold the worst attacking record in the division so far. As for their previous run of results, Wednesday’s hosts have lost back-to-back Premiership contests, drawing a blank in both of those appearances. Losing each of their last five meetings against the defending champions, St. Mirren should be in for an overwhelming test in midweek.

As for the visitors, while they might still be playing catchup, Celtic do find themselves in the midst of an eye-catching Premiership purple patch. In their opening five top-flight contests this season, they have recorded four wins against a single draw, scoring 15 and conceding just two in return. Still holding two games in hand over the teams above them, the Hoops have collected 13 points and know that victory in midweek will see them jump up to second spot in the table. More impressive, holding the joint-best attacking record in the division, it should also be highlighted that they hold the second-best defensive tally. As for their recent run of results, Celtic have won each of their last three Premiership contests on the bounce, recording a clean sheet in each of those appearances.
