Newly-relegated side Cardiff City are hoping to get themselves back into the Premier League at the first time of asking by getting off to the best possible start this season. That means seeing past Blackburn Rovers in their away game on Friday.

Cardiff have a strong squad for their opening game too. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his trusty David Marshall in goal, with the likes of Ben Turner, Mark Hudson, Gary Medel, Joe Mason, Adam Le Fondre all likely to be in the squad too.

Last season, the Bluebirds finished rock bottom of the Premier League, with 30 points from 38 games. They lost 22 of their games, conceding 74 goals for their troubles. But they are being tipped to push for promotion back into the top flight, and Coral are giving odds of 1/1 for them to get the win against Rovers in Friday.

Blackburn won’t be a push over, however. They finished eight in the league last season, with 70 points from 46 games. Manager Gary Bowyer will have his side challenging for a playoff place.
