Two sides who have their sights set on securing a play-off finish this season, Vancouver will host a resurgent Colorado Rapids in the early hours of Sunday.

Starting with the hosts, while they might still be dealing with some defensive issues, Vancouver have their sights set on securing a play-off charge this year. In their 16 MLS matches this season, they have recorded four wins, six draws and six defeats, scoring 17 and conceding 20 in return. With a points tally of 18, the Whitecaps currently sit one-point adrift of climbing back into the top-seven. As for their recent run of results, although the hosts are enjoying a four-match unbeaten run and have lost just one of their last eight MLS matchups, Vancouver have failed to record a clean sheet in any of their last six appearances.

As for the visitors, despite their US Open Cup defeat in midweek, Colorado are enjoying a bright run in the Western Conference. In their 16 MLS matches this year, they have recorded four wins, three draws and nine defeats, scoring 25 and conceding 34 in return. Despite holding the worst defensive record in the division, the Rapids do hold the second best-attacking tally in the West. Sat five-points adrift of the play-off spots, the visitors are enjoying a five-match unbeaten run, winning four of those contests. Also managing to record just one clean sheet in their last four matchups, we’re backing a lively encounter this weekend.
