Two sides looking to lift the Champions League crown, Tottenham and Liverpool will meet in Madrid on Saturday night.
Starting with Mauricio Pochettino’s side, while Tottenham may have pulled off a dramatic comeback against Ajax earlier in the month, they have shown some signs of a struggle. Spurs have won just one of their last five matches across all competitions and have now managed to record just a single clean sheet in their last eight appearances. Aside from their 3-2 win in Amsterdam in the semi-finals, the Lilywhites have struggled with their European form outside of North London. The Premier League outfit have recorded just two away Champions League victories in their last seven attempts and have managed just one away clean sheet since September 2017.
As for Jurgen Klopp’s side, while Liverpool may have just missed out on the Premier League title, it has been a very bright end to the year for the Reds. Pulling off a dramatic 4-0 victory over Barcelona in the semi-finals, the Premier League club have won 13 of their previous 14 matches across all competitions and have scored two or more goals in each of those victories. Despite their impressive form in the final third, Liverpool have also shown some struggles on the road in Europe. Klopp’s side have lost six of their last eight Champions League matches on the road and have not recorded an away clean sheet in their last nine attempts.
