Two sides who have their sights set on securing a play-off spot this season, Toronto FC will host New York Red Bulls in the early hours of Thursday.

Starting with the hosts, although Toronto might be struggling with their consistency of late, the Reds still have their sights set on securing a top-seven finish. In their 20 MLS matches this season, they have secured seven wins, five draws and eight defeats, scoring 32 and conceding 33 in return. With a points tally of 26, Toronto hold a one-point buffer from slipping out the play-off positions in the Eastern Conference. As for their recent run of results, Thursday’s hosts have won just two of their last 13 matches across all competitions and it is also worth noting that the Reds have won just one of their last six matches on home soil.

As for the visitors, also struggling with their consistency of late, New York Red Bulls find themselves in a similar position to their hosts on Thursday. In their 20 MLS matches this season, they have recorded nine wins, four draws and seven defeats, scoring 35 and conceding 28 in return. With a points tally of 31, they currently sit five points adrift of top spot in the Eastern Conference. As for their recent run of results, the Red Bulls have won just two of their last six matches across all competitions and it is also worth noting that they have failed to win any of their last three matches on the road, conceding three or more goals in each of those defeats.
