Two nations looking to pick up their opening victories at this year’s tournament, Spain’s U21’s will face off against Belgium on Wednesday night.
Starting with Spain, despite their impressive form during qualifying, they did struggle in their 3-1 defeat against Italy in their Group A opener last week. Despite seeing their six-match unbeaten run come to an end last time out, the Reds have continued to shine in the final third. Although they have managed to record just a pair of clean sheets in their last six matches across all competitions, Spain have managed to find the net in each of their last 16 outings, a run that stems back to June 2017. It is also worth noting that the former champions have scored 19 goals in their last six matches on the road.
As for Belgium, continuing on what has become a very worrying run of form, Belgium find their confidence and form at a low. Suffering a 3-2 loss against Poland in their Group A opener, the Red Devils are enduring a three-match losing run and are without a win since October 2018. Despite now recording two or more goals in four of their last five appearances, there remains plenty of concerns over Belgium’s defensive issues. They have now conceded three goals in their last four consecutive matchups and midweek could prove to be another extremely lively encounter.
