Two sides who have their sights set on securing a spot at next year’s European Championships, Serbia will host Portugal on Saturday night.

Starting with the hosts, despite bouncing back against Lithuania back in June, Serbia do still find themselves struggling with some inconsistencies. In their opening three qualifying matches in Group B, they have recorded one win, one draw and one defeat, scoring five and conceding seven in return. Currently sat six points adrift of runaway leaders Ukraine even with a game in hand, it is worth noting that no nation in Group B holds a worse defensive record than Serbia. Winning just one of their last five matches across all competitions, Serbia have also seen five of their last six contests end with both teams finding the net.

As for the visitors, lifting the UEFA Nations League title over the summer, Portugal also have their sights firmly set on securing an automatic route out of Group B. With two games in hand over the sides above them, the Reds, however, have opened their EURO 2020 qualifying campaign with just a pair of draws against Ukraine and a 1-1 draw with Serbia back in March. While Portugal might be enjoying a 10-match unbeaten run across all competitions, it is worth noting that the visitors have also seen five of their last eight matches end with both teams finding the net.
