In a showdown that could prove to once again see a host of chances at both ends of the pitch, Philadelphia Union will host Toronto in the early hours of Thursday.

Starting with the hosts, while Philadelphia might still find themselves leading the chase to clinch a Final Series spot, they are a side who are seeking some much-needed stability. In their 17 MLS matchups so far this season, they have recorded six wins, seven draws and four defeats, scoring 21 and conceding 17 in return. Managing to muster a points tally of 25, The Union open the midweek fixtures sat fifth in the Eastern Conference and holding a four-point buffer from dropping out of the top-seven. However, as for their recent run of results, last seen playing out a 1-1 draw against Chicago Fire on home soil, Philadelphia have managed to win just one of their last seven MLS contests. Likewise, it should also be noted that Thursday’s hosts have seen six of those seven matchups finish with both teams finding the net.

As for the visitors, managing to enjoy what has been a recent purple patch, Toronto have continued their charge up the Eastern Conference standings. In their 16 MLS matchups so far this season, they have recorded three wins, five draws and eight defeats, scoring 21 and conceding 33 in return. Managing to muster just a points tally of 14 and still eight points adrift of breaking into the Final Series places, it should be noted that The Reds hold the worst defensive tally in the division. However, as for their recent run of results, Toronto are unbeaten in each of their last five straight MLS fixtures over the past month. It should also be highlighted, with nine of their last 10 MLS matchups finishing with both teams finding the net, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
