Two sides who find themselves battling it out at the top of the Eastern Conference, Philadelphia Union will host New York City in the early hours of Thursday.

Starting with the hosts, suffering a Concacaf Champions League defeat last week, Philadelphia are in the midst of what has been an extended sluggish patch. In their 19 MLS matchups so far this season, they have recorded seven wins, seven draws and five defeats, scoring 25 and conceding 19 in return. Managing to muster themselves a points tally of 28, The Union open the midweek fixtures sat fifth in the Eastern Conference and holding a four-point buffer from dropping out of the Final Series places. However, as for their recent run of domestic results, last seen getting hit with a 2-1 defeat away at New England, Philadelphia have managed to win just one of their last five MLS contests. It should also be noted, along with recording a pair of victories in their last eight attempts, Thursday’s hosts have seen six of those eight matchups finish with both teams finding the net.

As for the visitors, managing to make what was a welcomed return to winning ways last weekend, New York City will be desperate to build off of that result here. in their 18 MLS matchups this season, they have recorded nine wins, four draws and five defeats, scoring 34 and conceding 18 in return. Mustering a points tally of 31 and opening the midweek fixtures sat second in the Eastern Conference, it should also be noted that The Blues hold the second-best attacking tally in the division. As for their recent run of results, last seen picking up maximum points against Inter Miami on home soil, NYCFC are unbeaten in their last six MLS matchups, collecting four wins and a pair of stalemates. With Thursday’s guests seeing five of their last six away fixtures finish with both teams finding the net, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
