In a matchup between two sides who are still seeking some stability, New York City will host Atlanta in what could be a lively affair in the early hours of Thursday.

Starting with the hosts, making an immediate return to losing ways when returning from the international break, New York City have gained a real reputation for their issues on home soil. In their eight MLS matchups so far this season, they have recorded three wins, two draws and three defeats, scoring 15 and conceding 10 in return. Mustering themselves a points tally of 11 and opening the midweek fixtures with their goal difference keeping them inside the play-off spots, it should be noted that The Blues hold the best-attacking tally in the Eastern Conference. However, as for their recent run of results, last seen getting hit with a 3-2 defeat against New England on home soil, Thursday’s hosts have managed to win just one of their last five MLS matchups. Also mustering just a single point from their last three home fixtures, it’s worth highlighting each of those three home games have finished with both teams finding the net.

As for the visitors, left stunned over the weekend and eventually having to settle for a last-gasp point on home soil, Atlanta have gained a reputation as a real stalemate specialist. In their opening eight MLS matchups this season, they have recorded just a pair of wins, five draws and one defeat, scoring 11 and conceding nine in return. Managing to muster themselves a points tally of 11, the former champions open the midweek fixtures sat down in ninth in the Eastern Conference, with just their goal difference keeping them outside the play-off spots. As for their recent run of results, left heartbroken by that late 2-2 draw against Philadelphia Union last time out, Atlanta have draw each of their last three MLS matchups on the spin. However, with all of those three contests seeing both teams finding the net, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
