Looking to put together their final preparations for this summers World Cup finals in Russia, Japan will welcome Ghana to the National Olympic Stadium on Wednesday.
For the hosts, after topping group B in the Asian World Cup qualifying campaign, Japan will travel to Russia in a group consisting of Colombia, Poland and Senegal. In their 10 qualifying matches, Japan won six, drew two and lost two, scoring 17 and conceding seven in return, Japan held both the best attacking and defensive records. However, if Japan want to secure a spot in the knockout stages this summer, they will need to improve on their form of late. The hosts have now won just two of their last eight in all competitions, losing four and drawing two, in six of those matches both teams have scored.
As for the visitors, after failing to win a single match at the World Cup finals in 2014, Ghana have failed to improve their form and after a disappointing African qualifying campaign, the visitors have missed out on booking their spot in Russia. After six group stage matches, Ghana recorded just one win, four draws and one defeat, scoring seven and conceding five in return, Ghana went on to finish Group E behind Egypt and Uganda. As for their recent form, Ghana have now won just one of their last eight and have just one win away from home in their last eight.
