Two sides who have their sights set on securing a spot in the semi-final of this year’s League Cup, Everton will host Leicester on Wednesday night.
Starting with the hosts, appearing to enjoy quite the resurge, Everton find the mood in their camp on the rise. Snatching a 1-1 draw off of Manchester United over the weekend, the Blues also put three past Chelsea last week and have their sights set on extending their buffer over the Premier League drop zone. While they may have recorded just a single victory in any of their last five appearances and failed to record a clean sheet in any of their last seven outings, they have shown some much-needed improvements in the final third. Everton have now scored four goals in their last two appearances and have found the net in their last four matches on the bounce.
As for the visitors, while Leicester’s winning run may have come to an end over the weekend, the Foxes are unbeaten in their last 10 matches across all competitions, winning nine of those appearances. Still sat second in the Premier League standings and in pole position to clinch a Champions League return next year, it should also be noted that Wednesday’s guests hold the third best-attacking record in England’s top-tier. However, Brendan Rodgers’ men have recorded just a single clean sheet in their last four Premier League appearances. With seven of the last eight combined matches between Leicester and Everton seeing both teams find the net, we’re backing a similar outcome in midweek.
