Benfica 8/11 to lift the Europa League trophy at Seville’s expense

Benfica are hoping to avenge their 2012/13 Europa League final defeat to Chelsea by seeing past La Liga side Seville this season. The Portuguese Liga side have reached back-to-back finals but are now the favourites to lift the trophy, with Ladbrokes giving them odds of 8/11.

Jorge Jesus’ men saw past Italian Serie A champions Juventus over two legs in the semi-final to make it this far, while also having defeated Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur en route too.

Seville have somewhat stumbled over the line to reach the Europa League final, losing or drawing seven games from fourteen since qualifying for the tournament‘s group stage.

Their league form has gone to pot too. The Spaniards have lost the last two games to Athletic Bilbao and Getafe, while drawing to Villarreal in between. They also lost 3-1 to Valencia in the Europa League semis, but scraped through on away goals.

Benfica have had a little blip in form after sealing their league title, drawing to Vitoria Setubal and losing to FC Porto, but they have been strong in Europe throughout – winning six and drawing twice, while conceding just four goals.
