Looking to briefly shore up their spot at the top of Group G, Belgium will face off against Tunisia in in their second matchup at the Otkrytiye Arena on Saturday afternoon.
For Belgium, while it may have been a lethargic start to their opening game against Panama, The Reds’ star-studded squad flexed their muscles in the second half and marched to a 3-0 win. Now sat atop of Group G with a two-goal advantage over England, after going through the whole of their World cup qualifying campaign unbeaten, winning nine and drawing just one, Belgium have now won their last three on the bounce and have not tasted defeat in any competition since September 2016. More impressive has been their recent defensive record, along with keeping a clean sheet last time out, Belgium have now kept a clean sheet in five of their last six.
As for Tunisia, much like their opponents on Saturday afternoon, they too enjoyed a stellar qualifying campaign that saw them go unbeaten in Group A. However, despite being handed a highly controversial penalty, Tunisia fell to a last-gasp 2-1 defeat to England and if they are unable to get anything out of Saturdays’ match, they will be eliminated from the tournament. Despite their impressive run in qualifying, The Reds have drastically begun to struggle, Tunisia have now failed to win any of their last four, losing two and drawing two.
