With German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich having signed Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, the future of Mario Mandzukic has been unknown.

As Bayern have Thomas Muller, Claudio Pizarro Mario Mandzukic and Robert Lewandowki currently as the club’s options in attack, it was expected that at least one player would be leaving.

Bayern manager Pep Guardiola was keen to reiterate that the Croatian striker was still an important player to the side, but 888 Sport are giving odds of 1/2 for Mandzukic to leave the German outfit this summer to join La Liga champions and Champions League runners-up Atletico Madrid.

The Spaniards have lost their top scorer Diego Costa, who left to join Chelsea this summer, and as a result they are eyeing up replacements in attack. Mandzukic would be a good replacement as the 28-year-old scored 18 goals in the Bundesliga last season for Bayern, boasting a 23% conversion ratio – better than the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid and Lionel Messi (Barcelona).
