Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze 2/1 to rejoin Borussia Dortmund this summer
Competition: German Bundesliga
Market: Gotze to join Dortmund
Odds: 2/1 @ William Hill
Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze is keen to exit the Allianz Arena this summer, but his next destination is still unknown. The German international has been on the periphery for club and country in the last 12 months, and wants first-team football for another side ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
Premier League duo Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur were linked with Gotze’s signature this summer, but it could instead be a former side in Borussia Dortmund who win the race. Dortmund lost a key attacking-midfielder in Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer and would love a former star such as Gotze to replace him.
The 24-year-old has been unhappy at the lack of playing time afforded to him at Bayern Munich, and with the recent arrival of Renato Sanches, Gotze feels there’s even less chance of him becoming a regular in the starting lineup. As a result, he’s looking for a new club this summer and may consider Dortmund as the best fit.
Gotze played for BVB between 2001-2013, and would potentially be joining a side on the brink of something great under manager Thomas Tuchel. Liverpool’s interest is waning while Tottenham have other options, and William Hill are giving odds of 2/1 for Gotze to join Dortmund as a result.
