Bayern Munich’s Champions League campaign returns tonight, with the German giants facing Shakhtar Donetsk. Pep Guardiola’s side will still be reeling from last season’s humiliation in the competition, and will be looking to mane amends this time round. Munich are flying high in their domestic league, and have been nearly flawless in Europe so far too, and they are favourites to go all the way in the Champions League as a result.

Their impressive defensive record (15 clean sheets in 21 league games & 4 clean sheets in 6 Champions League games) sees them as the most difficult side to score against, let alone beat. Only three clubs have managed victories against Bayern in 30 games in all competitions this season, so it’s hardly surprising why many fancy the Germans to win back their crown.

Holders Real Madrid, their fierce rivals Barcelona, and Premier League leaders Chelsea are the favourites to go all the way in the Champions League, but Ladbrokes are giving odds of 13/5 for Bayern to win their second Champions League trophy in three seasons.
