BATE Borisov 2/5 to win against Dundalk in Tuesday’s Champions League qualifier
Competition: Champions League
Market: BATE Borisov v Dundalk
Odds: 2/5 @ William Hill
BATE Borisov welcome Dundalk to the Borisov Arena for the first leg of the third round of their Champions League qualifier, and the Belarus outfit are favourites to come out on top to book their place in the playoffs.
BATE Borisov have much more European pedigree compared to their opponents, having made the Champions League group stages in the last two seasons alone. The home side are currently top of the Belarus Premier League with 35 points from 15, and are coming off the back of four wins from five.
As for their opponents, visitors Dundalk have only made the qualifiers of European competition three times since 2003. The Irish outfit are top of the Airtricity League with 46 points from 18 games, and have won three on the bounce ahead of Tuesday’s meeting at the Borisov Arena.
The gulf in class between the two sides should be telling, however, with BATE Borisov being regular participants in European competition while Dundalk are relative novices with their poor record in qualifiers.
As a result, the home side are being backed by William Hill with odds of 2/5 to see past their Irish opposition.
