Basel to beat St Gallen and both teams to score 7/4 for Saturdays Swiss Super League showdown
Competition: Swiss Super League
Market: Basel win and Both teams to score
Odds: 7/4 @ Bet 365
Two sides that will be looking to get off to a winning start in the new Swiss Super League campaign, defending champions Basel will welcome St Gallen to St. Jakob-Park in Saturday afternoons matchup.
Starting with the hosts on Saturday, although it was an abysmal pre-season tour for Basel, the defending champions will enter the opening matchup as an overwhelming favorite. Winning 22 and losing just two of their 36 matches last year, Basel scored 92 goals and conceded 35, finishing with both the best defensive and attacking records in the Swiss Super League. Although they have lost all three of their friendly matches, conceding 11 in those outings, we are backing Basel to come away with the win considering they won the league by a 17 point advantage and also finished 28 points clear of their opponents on Saturday.
As for the visitors, after only managing to finish six points clear of the drop zone last season, St Gallen have continued to struggle entering the new year and it could be another tough year on the cards. Losing 18 of their 36 matches last year and conceding 61, they finished the year with the second worst defensive stats in the Swiss Super League. While they have managed to find the net in eight of their last 10, St Gallen have now only picked up one win in their last 11 matches in all competitions, losing nine of those appearances.
