Commanding Zenit midfielder Axel Witsel is being rumoured to be leaving the Russian Premier League side this month, but the Belgian may well be hard to shift given Zenit are currently flying high in the Russian Premier League.

Witsel has been attracting interest from a lot of sides, however, and would relish the chance to join a team looking to make big waves in the Champions League next season. Zenit are a club likely to lost their best players when the investment gets cut, so the 26-year-old will consider his future.

He’s a talented individual too, missing just one league game for Zenit all season, scoring three goals. With a 90.1% pass completion, 37 tackles and interceptions made, and 40 aerial duels won, Witsel is a very tricky midfielder to get the better of.

Manchester United have a number of his international teammates in the side too, with Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini, so they could well convince him to make the move. 888 Sport are giving odds of 2/1 for Witsel to join Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United side in January.
