Atletico Madrid are in pole position to knock out Barcelona in this season’s Champions League, with Madrid boasting home advantage going into their second leg tie with a 1-1 aggregate scoreline.

The Red & Whites, currently leading La Liga by a point with six games to go, are unbeaten at their Vicente Calderon stadium this season. They drew at home to Barca & Real Madrid this campaign, while boasting the best defensive record in the entire division.

William Hill are giving the Spaniards odds of 23/10 to qualify for the Champions League semi-finals at the expense of Barcelona, who have been waiting three years to get their European crown back.

Atletico can draw 0-0 and still progress into the final four of the prestigious European competition, or any win will do if Barca find a goal. A score draw higher than 1-1 will see the visiting side through, however.

This season’s Champions League has already been more eagerly watched with all eight group winners making the quarter-finals, but there could well be a huge upset at stake if Barcelona are eliminated prematurely again.
