Looking to build off of their opening weekend victory, Atletico Madrid will travel to Leganes on Sunday evening.

Starting with the hosts, while Leganes may have enjoyed an impressive pre-season that saw them win each of their final matches over the summer, they did suffer a 1-0 defeat against Osasuna in last weekends La Liga opener. More worrying for Leganes, after only managing a bottom-half finish in the standings last season, they have now lost each of their previous three La Liga matchups and also won just one of their final eight matches in the 2018/2019 campaign. It is also worth noting that Leganes have also failed to win any of their last five La Liga matches on home soil.

As for the visitors, continuing to shine after a bright pre-season campaign, Atletico Madrid have their sights set on reclaiming the La Liga title this season. Picking up a 1-0 win over Getafe in their opening contest last weekend, the White and Reds have won each of their last seven matches across all competitions, scoring two or more goals in all bar one of those contests. It is also worth noting that Atletico conceded just 29 La Liga goals in their 38 appearances last season, the best defensive record of any side in Spain’s top-tier.
