La Liga is back for yet another important round of fixtures as the competition continues to simmer away nicely. The league is incredibly tight with teams desperate to pick up three points be it for a survival push or to strengthen their grip on a European place. With this in mind, Atletico Madrid host Las Palmas on Sunday.

Atletico Madrid have looked good this season and they seem to be the most likely team to chase down leaders Barcelona. After 20 games they have won 12, drawn seven and lost just once, scoring 29 goals and conceding nine times. In their last five they have managed to win three, lose once and draw once, which has seen them onto 43 points. While they are 11 short of Barcelona at the top, they are currently nine clear of Villarreal in fifth, with a Champions League place within their grasp.

Las Palmas have struggled massively this season and they are in desperate need of a number of wins. After 20 games they have won four, drawn twice and lost 14, while they have scored 16 goals and conceded 47 times, the most of any team in the league. In their last five games they have won just once, drawing one and losing the other three which have seen them onto 14 points, four short of safety. Las Palmas clearly need to embark upon a string of wins or they will likely face relegation to the second division.
