Athletic Bilbao and Olympique de Marseilles 5/2 to draw tonight’s Europa League clash

Posted February 25th, 2016 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Europa League
Market: Athletic and Marseilles to draw
Odds: 5/2 @ William Hill

Spanish La Liga side Athletic Bilbao host French Ligue 1 outfit Olympique de Marseilles tonight in the second leg of their Europa League last-32 clash. The home side won 1-0 in the first leg, and are looking to grind out a result. Marseilles are sure to be cautious not to concede, but could struggle to break down their Basque opposition.

Both sides are in good form in their respective domestic leagues ahead of tonight’s meeting, but have also been guilty of racking up a lot of draws. Bilbao don’t need to win to make it through, so it’s unlikely they will play too open despite having home advantage.

Marseilles will be more focused at keeping the Spaniards at bay, and such a tactical battle could result in the two sides cancelling each other out. Bilbao boast a good defence in their own backyard and their opponents have struggled for goals on the road, so they’re favourites to make the last-16.

And William Hill are giving odds of 5/2 for the two sides to play out a statemate tonight that will see Bilbao into the next round.
