Aston Villa 15/8 to beat Hull in Mondays Championship clash
Competition: Championship
Market: Aston Villa win
Odds: 15/8 @ Bet 365
With their financial problems appearing to now be resolved, The Villans have enjoyed an eye-catching run of form in pre-season and will travel to the KCOM Stadium on Monday night to open their Championship campaign.
Starting with the hosts, after dropping out of the Premier League in two years ago Hull City have failed to adjust to life in the Championship and could be in for another rocky year. After 46 games last season, Hull won 11, drew 16 and lost 19, scoring 70 and conceding 70 in return, no team outside of the relegation zone held a worse defensive record. Ending the year in 18th spot, The Tigers finished the year with just a five-point buffer over the drop. Failing to win any of their last five Championship games, Hull carried their poor form into the new season and failed to win any of their last four pre-season matches.
As for Aston Villa, the visitors are still trying to put their playoff final heartache behind them and despite problems behind the scenes, they have caught the eye in pre-season. On route to Wembley last season, Villa won 24 of their 46 Championship games, drawing 11 and losing 11, scoring 72 and conceding 42 in return, they held both the best defensive and attacking records. After managing to keep their best players this summer, The Clarets have won four of their five pre-season matches and have been in fine scoring form. Villa have now managed to score 14 in their last five and will fancy their chances against a Hull side who haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 10 matches in all competitions.
