Things are looking a little brighter for Aston Villa after a morale-boosting weekend that saw them progress into the FA Cup fifth round following victory against Championship high-flyers Bournemouth, while midfielder Fabian Delph ended speculation by committing his future to the club for another four-and-a-half years.

New-boy Carlos Gil showed his quality scoring a screamer to kickstart his Villa career after his move from Valencia, so things are going well in the Midlands.

And now manager Paul Lambert is hoping such a turnaround could see things start to click in the Premier League too.
