Aston Villa travel to Oakwell to face Barnsley in the Championship on Saturday evening, and are favourites to pick up all three points to give their promotion hopes a boost. Villa are enjoying an unbeaten run ahead of this weekend’s clash, while Barnsley’s resurgence hasn’t been without defeats and draws in between.

As for the hosts, Paul Heckingbottom’s Barnsley side are currently 15th in the Championship table, with seven points from six games this season. Barnsley have won just once in their previous three outings and the goal-shy outfit might struggle to break down Villa, especially if they look to contain the hosts and settle for a share of the spoils.

However, Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa side have gone four games unbeaten and are desperate for a result to ensure they don’t lose too much ground in the promotion race. Villa drew their last away game too so they may have finally turned a corner on the road. The Midlands outfit are 18th in the table with seven points from as many games, winning just once all season.
