AS Monaco 27/20 to earn all three points in tonight’s French Ligue 1 clash against Montpellier

Montpellier HSC lock horns with AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1 on Thursday night, but could come unstuck at the Stade de la Mosson given their poor form this season compared to Monaco’s impressive run of results. The hosts are currently in the relegation zone after six games, picking up just one point from a possible 18, and will only move up one place in the table with a win against Monaco.

As for the visitors, Monaco are eight places ahead of their opposition in the league, and have impressively picked up seven points from nine away from home. Now managed by Leonardo Jardim, the French giants have finished in the top three of Ligue 1 for the past two seasons, and will go level on points with 5th place if they can dispatch of Montpellier as expected.

Last season, Monaco took four points from their two league meetings against Rolland Courbis‘s side, so Thursday’s game could well see a repeat of fortunes. Monaco have won three and drawn two of their last five head-to-heads against Montpellier, and boast a formidable defensive record in past meetings too. Performances have been better on the road than at home for Monaco in the league, but they’ve been inconsistent.

Montpellier’s demise is a shock this season given they’ve enjoyed two top-10 finishes in the league in the last three years. Things haven’t gone to plan in 2015/16, and their woeful run in their own backyard couldn’t be more contrasting to their home form of last season. This time round, however, the French club are struggling for goals and conceding all too often.
