After scoring a hat-trick for new side Arsenal in the Champions League against Turkish side Galatasaray, summer-signing Danny Welbeck finds himself as one of the joint top goalscorers in the competition.

The England international is joint top on the scoring charts with FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez (3) and fellow FC Porto forward Yacine Brahimi (3). Welbeck is currently ahead of the likes of Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo (2) and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi (1), with at least four more games to play to add to his tally.

Bet 365 are giving odds of 19/1 for Danny Welbeck to finish as the top scorer in the competition, but he will have many players looking to oust him from the charts in the coming games.

Last season, Ronaldo scored an incredible 17 goals in 11 Champions League games en route to winning the trophy. The Portuguese international won it in 2012/13 too, with 12 goals to his name, so Welbeck does have a tough task to stay on par with the Golden Boot favourites.
