Are Arsenal to finish the season trophyless again?
Competition: Premier League
Market: Arsenal to win no trophies this season
Odds: 1/5 @ Ladbrokes
Following Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Stoke City, the Gunners ended the night four points adrift of 1st-placed Chelsea in the Premier League. Their title aspirations took a big hit as Liverpool recently overtook them in the table, and 4th-placed Manchester City have two games in hand that will put them top of the league should they win both.
Coupled with the challenge of having to turn round a 2-0 aggregate at Bayern Munich’s Allianz-Arena in the Champions League on the 11th of March, the FA Cup is the only trophy they can realistically win this campaign.
Everton stand in their way of making the FA Cup semi-finals – where they could face Manchester City – but many believe Arsene Wenger’s men are going to end the season with no honours once again. Ladbrokes are giving odds of 1/5 for Arsenal’s trophy drought to stretch to another season.
Arsenal’s next five fixtures in all competitions
8/3/14 – Everton (FA Cup)
11/3/14 – Bayern (Champions League)
16/3/14 – Tottenham (Premier League)
22/3/14 – Chelsea (Premier League)
29/3/14 – Manchester City (Premier League)
It’s a horrible run of games to come for the Londoners, but one that will ultimately make or break their season. There was once so much promise for this campaign, but is it to be another season of disappointment for Arsenal?
