While Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was keen to refute the rumours linking AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli to a Premier League return, the Italian international remains odds-on to join Arsenal this summer.

Balotelli has exhausted the Italian Serie A. While boasting a decent goal record upon his move from Manchester City to Milan, the 23-year-old has been called unhappy by his agent in recent weeks, and with the Italy club having struggled for large parts in 2013/14, Balotelli may feel new surroundings can change his fortunes.

Betfair are giving odds of 8/11 for Balotelli to join Arsenal, as the Londoners are desperate for more attacking talent in the squad after scoring the least amount of goals in the top-four last season.

Since joining AC Milan 18 months ago, the striker has bagged an impressive 26 goals. Arsenal could certainly benefit from such marksmanship, but it’s unknown if the Gunners consider Balotelli a genuine transfer target.

He’s notoriously hard to manage, and does bring controversy with him wherever he goes. Something Wenger is against bringing into the club.
