Argentina’s Lionel Messi 1/1 to be named best player of the World Cup
Competition: World Cup
Market: Lionel Messi to be named player of the World Cup
Odds: 1/1 @ 888 Sport
Although Argentina haven’t been anywhere near their best, there is one player who continues to steal the headlines in every World Cup game they feature in so far – Lionel Messi.
The Barcelona forward, 27, has been named man of the match in all three of his games for Argentina so far in this summer’s World Cup. He’s scored four goals in the group stages, but also boasts having made 17 successful dribbles – more than any other player in the tournament – and creating 10 chances.
As a result, 888 Sport are giving odds of 1/1 for Lionel Messi to be named player of the tournament when the World Cup comes to a close, but he does have stiff competition. Colombia’s James Rodriguez has set the tournament alight for the South American outfit, and he’s currently the top scorer in the World Cup (5 goals).
Netherlands forward Arjen Robben is another who will be hot on Messi heels as he’s greatly impressed for the Oranje so far.
