America Mineiro welcome Santa Cruz PE to the Estádio Independência for this afternoon’s Brazilian Serie A clash, and are favourites to come out on top in this weekend’s relegation six-pointer.

Mineiro are currently 20th in the Brazilian Serie A with just eight points from their 14 games played. The home side have suffered five consecutive defeats in the league ahead of today’s meeting at the Estádio Independência, and are currently seven points adrift of safety.

However, two wins from their last four home games sees America in with a chance of getting a result, which would boost their fledgling hopes of survival. Opponents Santa Cruz are only two places better off in the table, having amassed 14 points from as many games.
