Ajax 6/10 to win against PAOK Saloniki in Tuesday’s Champions League qualifier

Posted July 25th, 2016 | By: Crippy Cooke

Competition: Champions League
Market: Ajax to win against PAOK
Odds: 6/10 @ William Hill

Ajax welcome PAOK Saloniki to the Amsterdam Arena in the first leg of the third round of their Champions League qualifier on Tuesday, and are favourites to come out on top to book their place in the playoffs.

Ajax have a real affinity with the prestigious competition, having made the group stages of the Champions League in two of the last three seasons, and are a formidable force on home soil. PAOK are underdogs, and picked up only four wins from 15 away games in their domestic league last season.

In the Dutch Eredivisie last season, Ajax suffered just one defeat in their own backyard, and kept clean sheets in more than 50% of their home games. They will fancy their chances against their Greek opponents on Tuesday as a result, which would see them into the playoffs.

PAOK have continued to fall short in Champions League qualifiers in the past, but their opponents have a much more convincing record going into Tuesday’s first leg meeting. And with Ajax so strong on home soil while PAOK have struggled on the road, William Hill are giving odds of 6/10 for Ajax to win at Amsterdam Arena.
