Italian striker Mario Balotelli has been linked with Arsenal all summer, and Gunners manager Arsene Wenger failed to deny that he was indeed interested in the AC Milan forward. But still no official approach has been made, and no offer put in for the 23-year-old.

Last season, Mario Balotelli scored 14 goals in 30 Serie A games, but his club endured a difficult campaign, finishing in eighth place in the table with 57 points.

Arsenal have already signed a forward, with former Barcelona man Alexis Sanchez joining in a £32M deal. But Balotelli is a more natural striker who could play alongside Olivier Giroud as well as being another lone striker option.

With the Gunners still linked with Balotelli’s services, William Hill are giving odds of 9/4 for the Italian international to make the move to the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal have already spent well on their four summer recruits, with Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and David Ospina settling the London club back around £65M so far. The club would certainly be reticent to spend large on an average talent, but Balotelli has proven himself as a top striker.
